Harriet addresses her letter to her parents, and says the rest of the family is asleep. She enclosed an English translation of an Epistle for them. Canton China.
May 13th 1875
My dear Father and Mother,
The rest of the
household has retired and
are already I doubt not far
on the way to the land of
Nod so I will not attempt
to write a letter out only send
a few lines by way of
introduction to [?Ahung's?]
Epistle which I send here with
I enclose a translation as
it would otherwise not be
very intelligible to you.
I suppose the rest have
told you all the news
and I presume there
are not Enough fragments
left to fill even half a
sheet . By the time you
receive this I suppose you
will have the scattered

members of your household
gathered around your home
for summer vacation all but
your Chinese children and
they are coming soon.
Only seven months after this
and they will soon fly away.
It is already four since the
school-house was burned
and it seemed such a
short time . The days seem
to be just as full and
busy Every hour as when
the school is here. HEnry's
throat seems to be better
but I imagine he will
not try to preach
much of any this year.
The other members of the
"Happy Family" as they are
beginning to call us here are
very well. And now
with so much love for all
I will say good night .
Tell Edward and Frank
I would write to them
if it were not so late.
Ever your loving daughter

/
Henry
Frank
