My dear Em
This is your birthday
letter although it is so
many days behind time
I intended to write and
send you by the last mail
but for the first time I think
in my life I forgot your
birthday at the time I
had thought of it frequently
before the time . Well you
know you have all the
good wishes I can send
you and in a [u]few weeks[/u]
I hope to come home and
bring you some more. I
wanted to write to Dr
Ellinwood but have not had
time and now it is too
late as the man has
already come to take the
letters to the office.
We have been up this

morning to see the
Fultons. They have
had a hard experience
but they seem bright +
cheerful notwithstanding
and hopeful.
I do hope they will
succeed in staying
in Kwai Ping it
seems to be such a
good location. We
are all very busy + expect
to be for the next few
weeks and then
[u]I am going home[/u].
Hoping to see you
soon I am ever

I wonder when Gilbert
will be in San Francisco.
Will some of you have
time to write to him

and tell him if he is in
San Francisco after
the middle of July
to inquire for me
at the Presbyterian
Mission House 800 Stockton St.
Would it be splendid
if we could go out
East together . I will
try + write to him
by next mail
