to Jesus. June's happy spirit
took its flight yesterday morning
at 7 oclock. She did not suffer
as she was in a state of coma
all night. During the last
weeks of her life she complain
ed only of weariness."
"I received a telegram from
your brother Edward last
night saying, "Tell Henry
[?Gealie?]"' father died to day
Funeral delayed Answer"
I was sitting in the study
with the Dr and Mr Twing
with the letters in my lap.
I lopked at the words as
in a dream, read them
all over the third time
before the mind took in
the meaning. Then gathered
up the home letters in my
hand rose and walked to
the door and said Oh Dr
Come. He looked up and
said come at once please

As soon as we were out of sight
of Mr Thwing he said "Oh
my dear what is it." I gasped
out the words father is dead
He uttered a deep grown
and we went right up stairs
to our room. Oh Edward
it was such a shock.
I read right upon it with
out a moments warning.
But I can never tell you
how the Dr helped me He
sat right down and read the
psalm God is our refuge
and strength It has always
seemed a precious psalm
but now it is doubly so.
As the days go on my thoughts
are continually with you. It
will be a blessing to get the
next letters We hope for them
on Tuesday. We are constant
ly praying for you all It was so
hard you could not have
had Henry with you hard for

[Continued vertically on the first page]
him and for you. Dear brother how he longed to see father
again. Your loving sister Mattie
