<text> (2)
ten miles of Boston when
under all the circumstances
it is extremely improbable
that any incorrect expression
would have been inscribed
in that particular monument.
So I came very fully to
the conclusion that any criticism
on it was hypercritical and
I think it is a much more
graceful form than "Fell
asleep in Jesus." And that
is on Frank's so it did not
seem as though we wished
to use just the same form
if another would answer
as well as better - You
did not notice it one the
copy of the inscriptions that
I sent you - some time
before the monument came
  I remember you wrote
back that you liked them
but perhaps you were to
hurried to notice carefully
I do not remember how the

letters are cut. I think they
are all small capitals and
if so perhaps the world Fell
might still be cut before the
asleep in Jesus. I like
it very much better without
but if the rest prefer to have
it and it can be changed
I shall be quite willing. It
seems very nice to me to have
just the same on Father's
and Uncle Josiah's and I
have always hoped that when
they get a monument for
Uncle Augustus they will
put the same words on his.
It would seem to me pleasant
to think that the three brothers
sleeping in three different states
should have the same words
on the monuments that mark
their resting places -- I hope
that Henry will like the
monument. I wish we
could have had for Mother
the words "In thy presence

is fullness of joy-" Perhaps
we would have liked them
better than "And so shall
we be ever with the Lord" -
and we could not have them
both . I do not know which
to think but I am very glad
and thankful that the
monument is so satisfactory.
I seem to think of that spot
in the cemetery as home now
even more than the "home
on the hill-" It seems as
though the heart is taken
out of that and it will only
be ours a few years at most
but it seems as though after we
are all in heaven that place
in the cemetery will still belong
to us. We cannot know what
changes may come in the
coming years but I suppose
there can be little doubt that
those of us (I hope it may be
all) who are laid to rest there
will rise and greet each

other then in the glad
resurrection morning, at least
that is the way that Talmage
puts it. I am sure we
shall be very glad to have
our bodies again and they
will have had a long enough
rest never to grow tired or
rheumatic again . I am
glad we are not obliged to
believe that the time that
intervenes between that time
and this is a long sleep for
the soul as well as the body.
How many different ideas
are cherished and how little
we can really know - but I
should like to know that we
would all have part in the first
resurrection and that it will
really be before the millenium
then I think we would not
have to wait long until "We
shall be satisfied when we
awake with Thy likeness"
But I do not suppose we shall
[Note: Continues sideways in the right margin]
need for wait until the resurrection to be satisfied
