Bangkok Jan 20th 1876-
Dear Mattie
Henry has
been writing you and I
suppose has given you the
news up to present date .
We will start very soon for
Petchaduri are going to stop
on the way for a little
visit at Mrs Bradley's
with Dr and Mrs Cheek who
are still here. They both seem
very happy, are anxious to get
started off to Chieng Mai but are
waiting for some medical
supplies. We are having a
nice time with dear Dr and
Mrs Dean This morning I had
a delightful ride with him in
his pony carriage. There are very
nice roads here, a modern implement.
Dr and Mrs House will soon
be off she is very poorly they

will go to Canton if they can
make it convenient Tell Mrs
Henry I gave her message to Mrs
House + have no doubt they will
accept her invitation if they go
to Canton. Mr + Mrs Dunlap
like Bangkok very much --
Their house seems almost surrounded
by a forest . This land does
not seem so overstocked with
humanity as China ----
I did not get many letters
written on the way down here
had too much rough weather.
Your [illegible] to me often
come to mind and you may
rely upon me to obey them
and take things Easy. Now
if you will mind me as well
and take the best possible
care of yourself I will be happy.
I would like to write more
but must not now ---
With much love for all
Ever yours aff Hattie --
