Dear Ones at Home,
I will write just a
few lines to you all
together and only think
the next steamer that
goes I hope will carry
me across the Pacific.
I can hardly realize
that it is possible that
I shall so soon be
"homeward bound."
It is so delightful that
I may hope to meet
Cousin Gilbert and
Sarah in San Francisco.
The last time that I
went home I [u] counted [/u]
[u] the days for five years [/u]
but this time I have
hardly had a minute
to think of it. So I think
it will be almost a surprise
when I find myself
started home.
Mattie will no doubt
write you more or less
about her wedding and
when I come home I
will give you all the
details. It passed
off very nicely and
most satisfactorily
to all concerned.
Mattie looked very
well indeed, her
dress was a perfect
success, and most
becoming. Henry
married them It
was just after prayer
meeting and Dr
Graves Mr White
and Mr Henry and
Henry each offered
prayer. Miss
Butler made all
the cake and it was
most excellent. We
had all the Americans
here there were about
forty and about the
same number of
Chinese. It was a
lovely moonlight evening.
This morning Dr
and [u] Mrs Kerr [/u] went
to Macau. They had
breakfast here. Miss
Fulton staid here
over night. They have
gone down to stay at
the Fultons for a
few days, will
probably come up
next Tuesday.
We are having very
warm weather now
but I shall soon
escape from it. The
steamers go far enough
North in the summer
to find cool weather.
And now I must say goodnight.
