Dear dear sisters -
we are now a band of
sisters. our precious brother
is at rest in heaven. The
mortal frame lies in its last
dreamless sleep. the busy hands
are folded and his speaking
eyes are closed never to look
upon us again in this world
Have just taken my last look
of all that remains to us
here of the brother we loved
more than words can express
He looks so peaceful so
natural. Could think only
as I stood by him of this "I
have fought the good fight I
have kept the faith" and we
know that for him is laid
up the crown of righeousness

I wonder if he after 22 hours
in heaven could speak to me
what he would say. We have
long felt we could not have
him long but [u]his[/u] hopefulness
continued down to the end -
only a little more then a week
ago he said to me -"If we
go home in May - it seems
as though we would hardly
have time to get read-" I re-
plied oh you can soon get
ready - but felt he would go to
his Heavenly home ere that time
It was wonderful how his cour-
age held out. It was a gradual
going down - growing weaker &
weaker. A case of non [illegible]
[illegible] of food. No pain - only
weakness. His [?consant?] answer
as to how he was feeling -"Oh
very comfortable I have no
pain" - was interested in every thing
about him. every thing pertaining
to mission work down to the very
