Feby 2nd 1880
My dear Em,
Our last letters from
home came a week ago to-day.
We had just closed the
Boarding School and one of
the day schools that day.
We did not get many letters
by the mail this time only
one from my church beside
the home letters. Some of
your letters were written on
Thanksgiving Day.
Feby 23d I have two or three
letters commenced to you
on different sheets and I
think I must be economical
and finish them off and
send them on. This is the
day appointed for the
Boarding School to open.
It has just poured all day
a perfect deluge but nevertheless
the scholars have some of them
"put in an appearance". We
sent word to the girls not to
come back but are expecting to
open the Women's Department
and carry it on while the
building is going on.
We are invited this evening
to Lillie H Cunninghams.
It is a miserable time to think
of going out but Mr Cunningham
is going to send down his
nice covered boat so I suppose
we can go nice and dry.
I do not think M will
venture out. Dr & Mrs
Kerr, Dr & Mrs Graves are
invited so we shall find
ourselves in quite an elderly
circle. It always seems
to me as though I am
just about the same age
