Henry writes to Harriet on letters that he has gotten from home recently. He remarks that the last he heard, her and Emily had started on their eastern trip which she has now returned from. Dr and Mrs Graves are headed home and are on their way to Hong Kong. Henry did not expect to say goodbye because of her disease so he wrote her a goodbye note. Bella wrote to Henry that William wanted to buy his own postage stamp to send Henry a letter he wrote and mailed it himself.

Dear Hattie
The home letters that came
by the last mail are at Mattie's
just now so that I have not the
opportunity of referring to them to
see what ought to be answered. At
the time they wrote from home you
and Em had started on your
Eastern trip. They sent your letter
written to Father from Sterling so
I knew the pleasure you and
Em had in each others society
for eights hours at that little
station. I wonder if you get
talked out. I remember Dr Ellin-
wood thought Dr Happer's seven
hour talk was a good long one
but then women talk more than
men and you were not men.
The last little line in your letter
indicated that you had been at
Dr Niles' home and I had a note

from Mrs White day before yester-
day in which she said that
you had written them a
pleasant letter after being at
Mr White's home. Mr White
in the country just now but
is expected home soon. Mabel
has been having some fever.
I guess I have written that Helen Henry
has gone with the party to visit
Mr Henry, Dr & Mrs Swan, Mr &
Mrs Wisner to Lin Chau. A note
from Shek Kok soon after they left
said that Helen was enjoying
it much and was improving.
Did you ever know that Mrs
Wisner taught above Golden Corners
for awhile and that Mr Wisner
had preached in Fathers old church
at Wayne. I told them I guessed
it was a pre-requisite to
living in [u] this [/u] [u] house [/u] that every
one must have first been to
Golden Corners. You will have re-

turned from your Eastern trip.
I hope you had a good time
all around. Dr & Mrs Graves
left in the night steamer for
Hong-Kong in their homeward
journey. Poor Mrs Graves has been
a great sufferer but she seemed
bright last night. I did not ex-
pect to see her, as her disease
is of a nervous nature and
I presumed they would wish
her to get away with as little
excitement as possible. So I wrote
a good bye note and gave it to
Dr Graves in the afternoon to give
to her whenever he thought best.
I would not bid him good bye then
but told him I would do that on
the steamer. I rather think I was
the last one to say good bye to him.
I went to the steamer at 1/2 past eight
it was to leave at 9 PM, and
there was no one there but Dr Niles
& Miss Butler, except Miss Young & Miss Lewis

who were going as far as Hong Kong.
Mrs Graves sent out word that
I might come in and say good
bye so I had a little talk with
her. She was lying in her
berth but looked very happy & com-
fortable said she had got on
board without any pain. I had
not seen her but twice before for
months. They both need the
change and I hope it will do
them as much good as the
change to Japan did Miss
Butler who came back like a
new person.
I wonder if you got to Waterford,
and if so whether Bella and the
children had gone to house keeping.
She wrote that Willie wanted to
buy his own portage stamp for the
letter he sent me last mail and so
he went to the office and got the
stamp and mailed it himself.
She spoke also of the microscope &
Luk barrel that he got from the
Home on the hil. I expected to
