"That is my star when you look at it think of me"

"At twilight loved brother you'll look on my star
Then think of me fondly though dwelling afar
Though distance divide us and dark waters roll
May its light ever waken sweet thoughts in thy soul."

Should thy spirit be thrilled with a sorrowful tone
And sadness oppress thee, then come out alone
Remember as falls this soft star on thy sight
My eye doth in sympathy rest on its light.

WEve watched it at night when the crescent moon flings
Her silverly light o'er all beautiful things
When laden with fragrance comes up the cool breeze
With its low reed-like music just stirring the trees

If together we look on sweet Lyra no more
'T'will shine just as brightly on China's far shore
And tho' Ocean's dark waters between us shall be
Remember in spirit I'm often with thee.

[Note: Blank page]

At Evening loved sister I've looked on thy star
And thought of thee kindly though dwelling afar
Though widely between us the dark waters roll
Its light doth still waken sweet thoughts in my soul

Though my spirit is thrilled with no sorrowful tone
'Tis no less a pleasure to come out alone
And rEmember as falls this soft star on my sight
That thine Eye doth in sympathy rest on its light

Through all coming years while Memory shall last
I'll think how we've watched it in years that are past
And that thought shall be bright as the star in the sky
And turn my low thoughts to [--the--] glories on high

Though together we look on sweet Lyra no more
It shines just as brightly on China's far shore
And beyond the wild waters of the dark blue sea
Thy brother in spirit is often with thee.
